Welcome to the Chequamegon Children’s Theater!

The Chequamegon Children’s Theater was founded in 1987 and incorporated as non-profit 501(c)3 in 1997. Since then, 315 children have participated in 28 productions and over 80 performances. Our mission is to offer all children who wish to participate the opportunity to develop confidence in themselves and increase their self-esteem through the unique experience of live theater. In a supportive environment, under the tutelage of experienced, professional directors, children learn collaboration, discipline, the simple joy of performance, and the magic of theater.

In 2019 we performed NEWSIES August 9, 10, 11, 2019…our 32nd summer production! Everyone who auditioned got a part. Children must be at least seven years-old to participate.

Synopsis:

Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right!   Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family.
