Synopsis:

“Professor” Harold Hill, a fast talking traveling salesman and experienced con-man, schemes to take money from the citizens of River City, Iowa by convincing them that a boy’s band will put an end to the moral corruption resulting from the presence of a pool hall in the community. He is assisted by Marcellus Washburn, the town stable boy who ran scams with Harold in the east. Things become complicated when Marian Peroo, the piano teacher and librarian, suspects he is a fraud. When Harold charms Marian so he can finish his business without being exposed and skip town, he finds himself falling for her and faces a difficult decision, whether to leave or be with the woman he loves.
